Subject: Revision in the Centrally sponsored scheme of Post-Matric

Sir,

The Government of India has been implementing the Scheme of Post-Matric

Scholarship to students belonging to Scheduled Castes since 1944. It aims to provide

financial assistance to students belonging to Scheduled Castes for pursuing post-matriculation

courses through recognized institutions. Under the Scheme, Central

assistance is provided on 100% basis to all States/UTs over and above their respective

"committed liability" except in the case of the 8 North Eastern States (Assam, Arunachal

Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim), which are

exempted from committed liability, and were therefore provided 100% assistance

without deducting any committed liability.

(i) maintenance allowance;

(ii) reimbursement of non-refundable compulsory fee charged by educational

institutions;
